BSE Policies
Labor and pricing
Labor flat rate is $100/hr with a minimum labor charge of 1 hour ($100) for most services.
The pick up and delivery charge, if selected, does not apply toward the minimum.
Labor is calculated per job using Service Manager Pro software. This is a widely used flat rate software that takes the job completion times of thousands of technicians across the country and averages the times into a fair estimate for that specific job.
Exceptions:
-Minimum labor charge is 1/2 hour ($50) for​ chainsaws, trimmers, or other small two cycle engines that require a basic carburetor tune only. Labor flat rate is still $100/hr after the initial 1/2 hour is exceeded.
-Lawn mower blade sharpening is $20 per blade (removed). This does not apply for blades still mounted on mower.
-Diagnostics have a minimum of 1/2 hour ($50) not including the brief initial inspection at the time of receiving your item. ​
In Person Availability
Although we try our best to be present at the shop during business hours, there is the chance that no one will be available in-person at times. This may be due to several factors including dropping off/picking up equipment, getting parts, or test driving vehicles off site. This is why it is best to utilize our booking calendar to schedule an appointment or communicate with us beforehand. If this occurs, you can call or text our phone number to get ahold of us. Thank you for your understanding.
Repair Lead Times
Repair lead times vary based on seasonal factors, current workload, parts availability, scope of work, etc. Our booking calendar helps minimize these times and shows customers our real-time schedule/availability for the week/month. The scheduled day of drop off/at home pick up is not necessarily the same day work on your item will begin. Typically, diagnosis/work will begin within 1-3 business days after drop off. This may be when problems are diagnosed and parts are ordered so physical work may not be able to be started during this time. Estimated time frames will be communicated to the best of our ability. The Expedited Service option is available for selection in the booking calendar for a fee, which will move you ahead of the current queue.
Drop Offs Without Appointment
Unscheduled drop offs are not permitted. If a machine is dropped off without either a scheduled appointment or prior communication with us, you will be asked to pick up your machine and schedule a formal appointment with us when we have availability. You may leave the machine with us without rescheduling if you opt for the Expedited Service option. This is in order to decrease the amount of machines sitting outside in the elements and to prevent disruption of current workflow.
Late drop Offs/No Shows
If a scheduled appointment is made and customer does not show, customer must reschedule for the next available time in the booking calendar. Late appointments, although not ideal, are generally accepted as long as communication is made and approved, and it occurs on the same business day.
Right To Refuse Work
If a machine is deemed to be irreparable, unsafe, or out of scope, BSE has the discretion to terminate work at any time. This will try to be determined as soon as possible after receiving the item, ideally before work begins.
Before we Receive your machine
If you are capable of doing so, remove any easily removable attachments, accessories, and personal/unnecessary items that may interfere with requested work prior to us receiving the item. We are willing to do this ourselves, but want to make it known that this will save on your labor time as we will have to charge time to remove and reinstall any of these items if they are in the way. (ex. ATV plows, mower attachments, excessive life jackets, ropes, fishing rods, etc.) This does not necessarily apply to standard mower decks, attachments/accessories that are required for machine to operate normally, or if work needs to be done on the attachment/accessory itself.

Washing Fee
Please do your best to have your machine not overly dirty when dropping off for repairs. To maintain a safe and efficient work environment, all equipment brought in for service must be reasonably clean and free of excessive dirt, mud, grass, oil, or debris. If a machine is deemed too dirty to safely or effectively work on, a cleaning fee will be applied prior to service.
Machine Pick up after repair/Storage fees
After receiving communication that your item is complete and ready for pickup, you will have 5 business days to pick up your item. After 5 business days, you will be charged $20 per day for storage unless previous arrangements were made.
Payment
Payment is required before or at time of pickup/at-home drop off when repairs are complete. Cash, check, electronic, and card payments (with 3% processing fee) are accepted. If full payment cannot be made, the machine will be held on site until transaction can be completed. The same storage fee as above will accrue after 5 days of completion with no/partial payment.
Outsourcing Work
Occasionally, certain portions of jobs will be outsourced. This is usually for specific tasks that we do not have specialized tooling for in the shop. For example: major engine crank work, hydrostatic transmission pump resurfacing, machine shop services, cylinder boring, etc. You will be notified beforehand if any of these services are necessary, as well as their cost.
Customer presence during Work
To ensure the safety of our customers, and to maintain an efficient work environment, customers are not permitted to be present in the shop while work is being performed on their machine. Due to necessary phone calls, other customers, documentation, etc. it is difficult to coordinate this effectively. This policy helps prevent accidents, distractions, and potential liability issues. We are more than happy to explain and show how/where work was performed at the time of you receiving your item.
On site work
Unfortunately, BSE does not perform on site/at home service. If you do not have a way to transport your machine, book our At-Home Machine Pick-Up service and we will pick up your item and bring it back to the shop for repairs there.
Transportation/Trailers
If you are dropping your machine off with us using a trailer, you must unload your machine and take the trailer with you. Unfortunately, we do not have the storage space to store trailers we are not performing work on. We do not have trailers available for rent, but can pick up your item if the At-Home Machine Pick-Up option is chosen while booking.
Previous Work
If your machine was previously worked on by yourself or another party and parts are disassembled, missing, damaged, or incorrectly installed, labor time may increase above listed book time to remedy these problems first before diagnosing. If possible, it is best to have your machine assembled and as close to basic operating condition as possible. Typically, it is more difficult and time consuming to put a machine back to normal to diagnose it, than it is to have it assembled and diagnosed correctly from the start.
Parts Stocking
BSE carries very few parts on hand since we service virtually every make, model, and type of powersports and equipment. We stock basic universal parts, AMSOIL, and shop supplies. Model specific parts will typically have to be ordered and lead times can vary. Updates will be given if ordered parts are found necessary and a rough timeframe provided as well.
Customer Provided parts
Customer provided parts are accepted as long as they are included at the time of drop off or home pick up. Parts will be examined to the best of our ability for potential issues before installing, and customer will be notified if quality/compatibility issues arise. If a customer provided part fails or is found incompatible during the repair process of after completion of the repair, quoted/planned labor time may increase depending on severity. If the customer provided part damages other components during or after the repair, customer will be liable for parts and labor to remedy issue.
Media Photos
Your machine may be included in advertising or promotional photos while it is at the shop. Photos/videos may be publicly posted on this website, online, Facebook, etc.
